Material meets Immaterial

Folder:
Discipline

We all have certain wants,

needs,

desires.

When it comes to finding

the person we want in our life,

it comes down to what we

think is good.

When in reality,

we don't really need

what we want.

I try to discern

what is good and bad,

what is truly desirable.

Are our needs met?

Can we accomplish goals

we had set?

Are we compatible?

How will we grow?

Will this work?

Will this last?

Questions we cannot answer

with a guarantee.

Yet we define who we see

by what they have.

What they look like,

not seeing what lies underneath.

Seeing the outside physique

and the things that look great.

But is it actually good?

Yet we look at the material outside

instead of looking at the things that really matter.

There comes a time when the material really becomes

immaterial.
