Waiting

I sat and waited for my love

Would she come or would she not?

Anticipation had been high

Delicious contemplation

Of all we would say and do

Messages had passed

Back and forth between us

Each one built the hope

Meeting would be wonderful

Singing, talking and sharing

Twenty minutes slowly passed

Would she come or would she not

Anticipation slowly waning

Sadly, now in contemplation,

Our joy will be delayed.

How long to wait for my love?

Should I stay or should I go?

Such delicate torment

Would I know I had missed her?

Would she know I had waited?

I waited for my love

Every moment remembering

All those delightful meetings

So rare, so free, so exquisite

I am rich though I missed her
