The Color Of Yesterday

Folder:
Nessa

the trees have greened and turned golden and fig
the winters have run through the stop lights and knocked them down
a gust blazing by, only calmed by fallen snow
which...melts away to butterflies

where birds chirp outside and turn the lights on
the sun breaks in pieces through the branches and reflects on stucco
mid-afternoons outside the window where i still sit now
by night the candle melts that sits in for you

but all that i see today
is fresh with the color of yesterday
life has just never been the same
since you passed away

i've tried to just let things slide
i've tried to keep it all alive
i've tried to wait for tomorrow and i
tried to make the most of this

right now

still all that i see today
is fresh with the color of yesterday
life has just never been the same
since you passed away

crickets chirp outside, sandmen shut lights out
the moon breaks in pieces through branches and reflects on car hoods
midnight trains in the distance announce to the wind
another candle melts that sits in for you

but all that i sense today
is fresh with the color of yesterday
life has just never been the same
since you passed away

life has just never been the same
since you passed away

the trees have greened and turned golden and fig
the winters have run through the stop lights and knocked them down
a gust blazing by, only calmed by fallen snow
till those angels trade places with butterflies
