Matt 5:11-13 MSG

Matthew 5:11-13 MSG

[11-12] “Not only that—count yourselves blessed every time people put you down or throw you out or speak lies about you to discredit me. What it means is that the truth is too close for comfort and they are uncomfortable. You can be glad when that happens—give a cheer, even!—for though they don’t like it, I do! And all heaven applauds. And know that you are in good company. My prophets and witnesses have always gotten into this kind of trouble. [13] “Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.

When I was at the young of 9 I first gave my life to God. I dealt with a lot of difficulties from so called friends, even church friends my own age I grew up. I was blessed with a praying mother who blessed me with that scripture.

This morning,God reminded me not only of that scripture but told me to read further on and reminded me again of who we are.

Matt 5: 14-16 MSG

Matthew 5:14-16 MSG

[14-16] “Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.

Allow me to say it. BATTLE!!!

Now in battle we have to wear certain things, right…

Which brings me to

Eph 6:10-18 NKJV

Ephesians 6:10-18 NKJV

[10] Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. [11] Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. [12] For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. [13] Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. [14] Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, [15] and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; [16] above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. [17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; [18] praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

You also need to know about your enemy. There's reasons why our pastor and others tell us to get to know our word.

 2 Tim 2:15 KJV

2 Timothy 2:15 KJV

[15] Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

I have been in countries where people weren't allowed to have the Bible or legally gather to worship. So when you see me standing here often on Sundays worshipping with tears coming down my face, I'm just worshipping God for what I have been through, going through and my future. I am worshipping for those families in other countries with only for a few minutes of safety just to say the name Jesus. That name above all names. JESUS!!!

We in this country sometimes take it for granted the freedoms that we have.

I have lived so much life in 52 years. I have been financially on top and I have been homeless. I have worked at a University in a really nice position fitting my educational status. I have served my country. I have seen things that were phenomenal and things I wish I could unsee.

Exodus 15:3 KJV

[3] The LORD is a man of war: The LORD is his name.

I'm going to end this with 2 Chr 20:15b NKJV

II Chronicles 20:15 NKJV

[15] Do not be afraid nor dismayed, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
