I thought of you today,

as I have many times before.

And I wondered what I'd say to you,

if you showed up at my door.



I thought of all the good times

we shared in that distant past.

The hugs, the tears, the unspoken fears,

that made our friendship last.



It saddened me to realize

those good times are all gone.

Swept back with other memories.

Forgotten for so long.



The real world came

and changed it all.

We lead our seperate lives.

We sought out bigger better things.

New experiences to try.



But through it all,

I've thought of you.

Its always made me smile.

I feel so blessed to have known you.

If only for a while.



Of all the things I've learned in life,

I know this much is true.

There hasn't been another,

Who's meant as much to me as you.
