"What If's..."

Folder:
Word Play

What if tomorrow was to bring,

The never ending life?

What if tomorrow was the plan,

To take away our strife?

What if the world came tumbling down?

And crumbled beneath our feet?

What if the sky were to leave our sight?

Could we manage to make ends meet?

What if now were truly tomorrow?

Or this moment being the past?

What if I decided to live my life

In a time that will always last?

What if the cloud were truly a rainbow?

Then we would never see the rain.

But then what if the flowers never bloomed?

Would we ever see colour again?

What if the bee were merely the bumble?

Then we'd not have our sweetened honey.

What if the court had lost its jester?

Then our lives would no longer be funny.

What if the breeze were never to blow?

Or what if the tide never came?

What if your life was never your life?

Then what is the use of a name?

What if we see, the world as we like?

Well that's how opinions are made.

But what if opinions were to simply disappear?

Then my coke could be a pink lemonade.

What if the grass was no longer green,

But turned to a striking scarlet blue?

Would the cows still graze upon their succulent leaves?

Or would they be scared off by the eccentric hue?

What if a cat were really a dog?

Would they learn to get along decently?

What if they decide that the world is round?

Oh yeah, they discovered that recently.

What if the span of time were the same?

Would we ever have use for a clock?

What if a year were really a month?

Then Second is what Minute might mock.

What if the tortoise were faster than the hare?

Would slow and steady still win the race?

What if Winkin, Blinkin, and Nod,

Decided to stay in one place.

What if the stories had never been told?

Would our minds be just as inspired?

Would we fly to the sky, and reach for the stars?

Or could we not think of all that we desired?

What if we saw through a child?s blind eyes?

Would we see the rainbow or the rain?

What if we were as pure as the seed?

Would we ever survive life again?

What if the saying had nothing to do,

With a penny earned and being saved?

What if it's true value and meaning,

Meant a life lived is a life that has been braved?

What if this poem were to end?

Would you still continue to read?

What if your skin decided to break?

Do you think you would actually bleed?

What if the sky turned purple?

But your opinions no longer exist.

No longer will life be what it seems.

Not while you're living on "What if's".

-Morbid Seraphim

Author's Notes/Comments:

Never will life be what it truly is, if your visions are clouded by "what if's".

What if I never came across this poem
Would my life change in any way, shape, form or fashion?
What if I said you poem was good
but it needed a little more passion?

What if I didn't critique this poem at all
but instead moved on to another?
What if...
