abraham and isaac

it's not about the ethics

of murdering your child

or shattering to pieces

your unabridged desire.

it's taking steps beyond

the finite world you think you know

and cutting down the branches

so a dying tree can grow.

what could i dare speak

about the agony of days

riding on a donkey

to a mountain just to slay

your one and only blessing

just because the Lord says so?

surely i would tell Him

"there's no way i will go."

but only for that reason

i would lose it anyway

and only for that reason

did isaac get to stay

it's faith, the mighty paradox

beyond all you could know

spectacular and beautiful,

indefinite, unknown.

Author's Notes/Comments:

reading "fear and trembling" by kierkegaard. it puts a whole new light on a something i've struggled with.

same with the disciples freaking out over the storm mid lake while Jesus slept in peace.

Jesus said they were going to " the other side". His. word is true, infallible and powerful. We too doubt in times of trouble so and yell God save me,Help! When He has already done it all 2,000 years ago.

its faith stretching moments to overcome by His promises.
