A Dream

You took me to the graveyard,
with unmarked colossal stones
We sat amongst purple flowers that
had no names
so we called them such
We shared a breath and
a cigarette
cold grey stone against our backs

Maybe we will lay our bones here someday
beneath a dogwood tree
with our names carved together

And the wind will reach out,
with an unrequited hand
and carry our dust across the country

It is only a dream

but my heart is a bowl of
peanuts at happy hour
and
you're the only one who
understands how that feels
