Even those who wish to avoid its snare
Cannot ever be completely free from it.
Consider Daphne
Who in avoiding love was in fact caught
In her freedom she was even more enticing
To those she wished to avoid
Her flight ended in a disaster
Perhaps this tale illustrates
That resistance to Love is a futile attempt.
Maybe it is just better to give in
And allow Love to run its course.
For once it tires of the game
It is likely to relinquish its prey.
However if one tries to flee
It’s grip grows ever tighter
Till misfortune is inescapable.
