The Forgotten

Thousands lay dying on the side of the road

There ribs poking through their flesh

People drive by pretending not to notice

These are the forgotten

The many who the world no longer sheds a tear for

Mothers watching their children slipping away

But what can they do?

How can they stop it?

Forgotten by those who once cared

Left to die without a hope or a chance

To dig shallow graves hour by hour as more fade away

There cries going unnoticed by everyone but God

All they want is a chance for survival

An opportunity to exist without the torture or pain

To be remembered in a world they have come to hate

They place no blame for what they have endured

Only pray for God to take them away
