Linda....

It’s crazy how people can be

In the same surrounding and never speak

How the utterance of your words inspire me

When ever you talked I stopped and stared

As your voice brought reality to words

By reading them wasn’t there

As I sit here on the train

Recalling moments just passed

Sitting here in awe

Of words never grasped

Only by paper

Yet I relate to one

That person is truth

How 2 hours have passed

And all that’s on my mind is you

Never in my life have I been inspired

By words long over due

As these words can’t begin to explain

In your words I hope to define

The person behind your name

Today you’ve taught me

Life transforms us ugly ducklings

Into swans

Through our pain

Author's Notes/Comments:

This poem was written on my last day in my English class in college after a group poetry session. I had a fellow student that took the same class as me who spoke so eloquently whenever she read. And on the last day of class I spoke to her, and learned more about the person who's words always made me stop and pay attention whenever she spoke.
