Habitat

Welcome to a habitat given

To us so called animals

With brick buildings and benches

Forget feelings and friendliness

That don’t raise distinguish gentlemen

In the hood girls are not feminine

Our inner instincts don’t involve mannerisms

Survival of the fittest

Is an understatement

In a place with gun shots and felons

Hustlers, crack, weed, and detectives

Is the only place you can find a

Black girl lost along side a

Man child in the Promised Land

The environment we were placed in

On the day of our birth

How can we surpass our daily living?

When were already considered apart of the dirt

Outsiders say our lives have no worth

To us is a joke when prisons collect 35 grand a man

Now that’s worth more then you know

Suburban lifestyle has no place

In our world

Ain’t no picket fence

Flower beds and multi floor duplexes

Homes with fathers, Foundation and no stress

Is something we cannot disperse

If that determines your worth

Suburbia will become extinct first

Put us anyplace on this earth

We already know our final destination is to die

Our lives don’t consist or prayer, making the world better

With hopes for a better life

We accept what we cannot change

Adaptation to what remains the same

Once you care about this

And worry about that before you know it

You’re out of the game

Around untamed

Vultures and snakes, in wake of

Kilos, pounds, ounces, is weight

Because of Tim’s, Throwbacks, Uptowns, and the latest MJ’s

Rent money was late, leaving 4 kids hungry with no food on their plate

Hungry, so the streets they embraced

Gave them food so they ate, as hustling took it’s place

Values were misplaced, but hunger was erased

Survival Designed our fate

In this hatitat given to us so called animals

Could you relate
