The Flower and the Vine

A beautiful flower does bloom

As a menacing vine lurks

slowly creeping its way up the flower

taking away its power

The vine can be pulled

it can be cut

but unknown to all

the two are back together

time and time again the relationship is severed

but apart the two can not be kept

one begins to wonder...

does the problem lie within the flower?

Can something that brings such pain

be the answer to its happiness?

playing with the one known as death

but envisioning it as angel's breath

we watch this flower wither away

a shadow of its former self

its very existence controlled by the vine

I think this is excellently done, and one of the best I have received in daily random poems. It so well personifies a damaging romantic attachment.

Smile.. it is the cheapest facelift.
