HOLD MY HAND

HOLD MY HAND

Take my hand, my darling daughter,

as the sun rests on the bay.

It has finished all its labours,

giving warmth and light all day.

As it sinks below the forest,

lending clouds its glorious glow,

stand here with me on the shoreline

watching its celestial show.

Hold my hand and hear the ripples

as the sea plays with the shore.

Your small hand in mine so trusting,

wish that I could hold it more.

All that's left to me are minutes,

memories soon will take your place.

They will store these precious seconds

with the sunset on your face.

Since your Mother left me, took you,

Loneliness has been my mate.

Guess I'd better take you home now,

Doesn't pay to be back late.

Two more weeks then till I see you

running to me, hugging tight.

Hold my hand my darling daughter

As my world farewells its light.

Again I love this poem. I see mine every other week.
She is the summer of my dreams. The light of my life.
Only I have one. Thanks again for stopping by. Without her
I would be lost.
