Whatever happened to 2006?

I blinked when it came, now it's gone

down a great, big, dark tunnel into the past.

Now 2007 is singing its song.



Whatever happened to 2006?

They say it was here for a year.

I saw it coming twelve short months ago

now I'm seeing a view of its rear.

I haven't got used to it yet!

I heard it approach like a stiff, rushing wind

and it passed me like steam from a jet!



Whatever happened to 2006?

Were all of the twelve months intact?

Did some sneaky soul steal half months away?

It all seemed so short, that's a fact!



Whatever happened to 2006?

How soon it has come to its end!

Hope 2007 will stay a bit longer

but on that hope I cannot depend.
