Ode To Heart's Regret

Undoubtedly, our tryst of flesh was wrong,

and ne’er could faithful hearts remain immune,

for singing oft’ that lewd and shameless song,

we trilled the notes of sin’s deceptive tune.

Our cheating hearts could ne’er engender trust,

nor e’er instill belief in faithful ties,

for sacred vows would waver pledged in lust,

expecting pretense cloaked in honor’s guise.

Distrustful souls seek out imagined clues,

invented deep within suspicious minds,

for simple nothings make such false ado,

destroying faith and trust in ties that bind.

Renew your faith, to he that pledged his vow,

while my soul seeks forgiveness, here and now.
