Ode To A Bad Poem

I search for words of consequence,

that carry weight, and have some sense,

but sometimes write indifferent trash,

preposterous chatter, balderdash.

Just useless words

that sound absurd

quite often boorish, sometimes brash.

There’s times my poems might offend

or be quite hard to comprehend.

The meaning’s hidden, tucked inside,

or sometimes oversimplified.

The rhyme is wrong,

some words too strong,

or even plain undignified.

I’ll search for subjects to amuse

or tax the brain with different views,

Some loving words to melt the hearts,

or titillate the naughty parts,

in any case,

it seems a waste,

when simple common sense departs.

Instead of wisdom to imbue

some words distort and misconstrue.

I pen the words that seem immense,

but really are of little sense.

I see it’s time

to end this rhyme

and search for words of consequence.

Though ponder I with all my might,
I must agree. I think you're right.
