Before You Left Me

you looked at me

lovingly

holding my hand

like

you were afraid that I

would

    slip away

your sarcasm

held

me close as you

liked to

hold me close

your love shined through

your frustration

with

me

when your father died

I wanted to take your

pain away

but

could only kiss your

soft lips

as you read the letter

of my declaration

of

love to you

I looked deep into your

eyes

hoping

     for another chance

those late nights

at

the office

when

heat and passion and love

took us over

I felt your heart beat

for the

first time

and

didn't want to ever

leave your side

giving me

        hope

        happiness

        warmth

and love

remembering everything we

ever shared

          before you left me
