Crossing That Bridge

Forgive me when I tell you this

I don't think of you much these days.

I cannot bear the sadness

when on heart-strings, memory plays.

I only allow the little thoughts

that flitter by and bring a smile.

To induldge in deeper memories

just leaves me crying for awhile.

I cannot look upon your face.

It brings me right to tears.

You were indeed my greatest friend,

I'll treasure those few years.

I still have all your email,

our chat conversations too.

You know I can't delete them

...the only essence left of you.

Perhaps one day, I'll come to terms

and deal properly with this loss.

But 'til that day, that bridge will wait

until I feel ready, then I'll cross.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I lost my friend several months ago....
it still saddens me alot to think about him too much.
I hope he's in a much more beautiful place.

Kim, I think he would understand....
and maybe even give you a token of his own enjoyment of your friendship.

Sometimes life just doesn't make sense. I'm glad I found you through your poetry. You make my life easier to bear when it gets tough. I pray that your pain eases soon.
