-The Dapple Grey & the Bay

On a horse of a soft dapple grey,

she mounts and she canters away.

Flaxen hair aloft in the wind, so fine,

trailing free like a ship's sail behind.

Thru the meadows she rides without care.

Her costume trailing and long flowing hair,

escapes branches and brambles with ease.

Galloping faster, as fast, as she please.

As the noon day sun rises high in the sky,

she sees her destination grow nigh.

As she reaches the top of the hill,

her excitement cannot be stilled.

Gazing full circle, the green countryside.

As she waits, her heart swells inside.

Oh my love, my love, as I wait for you here,

my soul tells me that you are near.

There he comes below, crossing the glade.

As desire grows, so her patience does fade.

Again, she mounts and she'll ride.

Until she meets him below the hillside.

When she appears from the trees, he dismounts.

Their last meeting his emotions recount.

When she alights to his waiting arms,

he's reminded again of her charms.

And as her horse of soft dappled grey,

stands teathered along side his bay.

Off into the treeline they fade,

to partake in love's serenade.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This was inspired after hearing the music that's playing here--- 'Kiss From A Rose' by Seal.

Oh, my! This is awesome! I love the music you chose. It's so good to see this new twist to an already wonderful poem. Great job.

I could lose myself in the world you create here...
I'm awed by the imagery you use and and the breezy, joyful mood of this.
