-Gently Falls The Rain

Gently Falls The Rain

Gently falls the rain

one  two drops  and then more

landing on the leaves

of this small tree

Still a young one

in a tree's life

small finger size branches

reaching skyward

Leaves small enough

for the palm of your hand

sofly green and delicate

cupping raindrops as they land

Protecting me from dawns

early shower until

leaves bend beneath

the waters weight

So many tiny droplets

merging into one

slide from the leafy greeness

chilling as it hits my neck

Shivvers running

down my back

dawns refreshment

awakens sleepy senses

Can you hear the crickets

singing in the morning rain

happy for the coolness

the rain has brought

Over in the berry brambles

a chorus of tiny insects

praises for Mother Nature

and her perfect blessings

Off on the distant horizon

God's comment for today

brightly watercolored skies

show us unexpected beauty

Bringing anticipation....

expectations of a wonderful day

rain or sunshine

makes no difference

A new day dawns

fresh and bright

with promises unknown

until fulfilled

"with promises unknown
until fulfilled"

That was very clever, Kat.

Lots of vivid sights & sound here, as well as a cool, soothing mood. I enjoyed this, and will read more...

Beautiful imagery and feel to this, and sprinkled with such wisdom. Most excellent writing!

This is such a delightfully refreshing poem. Very well done. I enjoyed my walk in the rain!
