He was the reflection of the hopes and dreams
of every good American boy.
Oh we lay on him all the best in us,
but even Superman couldn´t bear that much.

Chorus:
They say that Superman he died a heroe...
least that's how the Planet tells it.
But I say he was all too much the hero.
I say that it had to end like this.

2.  Why Supes?  Why´d you go and do it?
Why´d you have to face the heart of darkness?
We, we were the guilty ones!
How can we ever live with death of Superman?

Oooh, we needed a victim.
I guess that´s why we picked him.

It was only a matter of time.

Doomsday came along right out of the blue
though he´s been there all along.
Supes you beat the bad guy but we beat you.
Some things are just too good to be true.

At his funeral we mourn his passing.
Oh but Lois, Jimmy, won´t you please listen.
There´s a world without a Superman after all.
Sometimes it´s hard to believe that he ever lived at all.
