A Night Within A Life

Folder:
Love and Dreams

I lived once, a happy soul

When knights rode in armor

To joust for sport and Love's attention

I would watch and listen to the clamor

Maids would sing the songs of old

While children ran about

And smells of home would fill the air

These were  comforts without doubt

The rolling hills and running brook

Nature had blessed my simple home

At times I would pause the pace of life

And memorize every scattered stone

On summer nights

I would lay awake, counting all the stars

Wondering what fires were strong enough

To shine from so very far

My home was a paradise lost

One that I kept finding

Between the soil and my heart

lay a contract that was binding

Upon the hill is where I lived

Awaiting my queen's command

A mistress of melody, she bade me play

By a simple wave of hand

A tune I would spin to close her eyes

A tune to enchant her heart

I would play my best for her

Using all my gifted art

Yes, I was a happy soul

I lived to view the sun and  moon

I lived to sleep in the grass

And to play a cheerful tune

I will miss the life I had

I will miss the  sense of bliss

Why would anyone want to leave

A life so great as this?

I will think of it all

The beauty so perfect and pristine

I will think of it long past the time

When the alarm rings 6:15

A wonderful dream that saddened me upon awakening.

I was captivated right from the start. Immediately the atmospere changed into the beauty of the land you described and I actually felt the love floating in the air. On rare occasions I feel a longing to be in the place described, and when it does happen, it's usually with a book. I was surprised a poem could do this..I honostly honostly honostly was surprised that I felt that way. The only word that comes to mind is WOW! Please write more poems like this. They're enchanting.
