LITTLE BITS OF HEAVEN

Many religions talk about heaven…

or of a similar type of place…

where their God or Gods reside…

that transcend both time and space.

They believe they know where they will go

when death replaces birth

but in the meantime isn’t it nice to know

little bits of heaven await us here on Earth?

For I believe I have been blessed

since the moment of my birth

with little bits of heaven…

from my place…right here on Earth.

I feel it when I watch a bird,

a butterfly or a honeybee…

When I’m surrounded by nature’s beauty,

or immersed in friends and family.

I feel heaven when I feel love…

when I walk along the beach…

while watching the sunset color the clouds…

when I eat that perfect peach.

In a line from a book, a special song,

a candlelit dinner for two

Hearing a child call me Dad or PopPop…

In a cloudless sky of blue.

I could go on except Heaven is personal…

it’s different for you and me…

this is just a reminder how we've been blessed

to experience such symmetry?

For not only are we blessed with little bits of heaven...

as each one of us defines them…

but we’re also blessed with the aptitude

and ability to find them.

For not only are we blessed with little bits of heaven

as each one of us defines them…

but we’re also blessed with the aptitude

and ability to find them.

I love, love, LOVE this

I love, love, LOVE this poem.  I love the "garden."  Playing "behind the curtain" in the "invisible" is so fun and exciting.  Yes, Heaven presses upon us on all sides.  Thank you for sharing.
