Tennesee

Tennesee

You and me

City lights

Frightful fights

And music all around

A tear for living a life

A river for even thinking twice

A soft kiss benieth the streetlight

And then a whisper "Goodnight"

I wish for you, my friend

That until I see you again

Remember those night

Remember back then

Back before we said "Goodbye"

On a frightful night as this

On a star I made a wish

Driving home

I felt alone

I could still see it in your eyes

On a lonely, cold bus back to Kansas

That is where your heart was beating

I missed your scent

I missed your touch

I missed your voice again

A tear was shed for you

I laid awake throughout that night

You went away, I had to stay

Such a lonely day

I didn't want to end it that way

Tennesee

You ane me

The city lights

The calming nights

And the passing of the ground

Out till 1 AM

It was meant to be, my friend

We didn't get caught

So don't act like you forgot

The things you felt that night

So when I go away

I always think back there to that day

Where saying 'Goodbye' it made me cry

And the memories never fade

Just Tennesee

You and me

The best days of my life

The memories we made,

They meant so much

Tonight as I drift away

My thoughts will go back to those days

And a smile will come to my face

As I whisper, "I will always love...(you)

...My Tennesee"

Author's Notes/Comments:

This poem actually spawned off of one I wrote called "Concrete slopes and city lights".  It got me to thinking about Tennesee and how it was such a rejuvinating experience for both of us...I confess...Christine- I miss our Tennesee
