A Common Misconception

I might write for you

I might write for her

A common misconception

Still a little bit unsure

When I say that I love you

Am I talking to you

Or am I looking through a one-way mirror

Thinking "This can't be true"

You kill me when you talk

But in such a good way you don't know

How the words flow so smoothely

I am reading in slow-mo

You don't understand my words now

I have covered them up

Used metaphores of the light

The dark, a shooting star, a universe

Like when I cry here for you

I am shining right through

Look one more time out your window

I am still waiting for you

Give me a call

Don't give up on old friends

I count every minute

Until I see you again

A common misconception

But yet it is still true

I know now how I need you

How I miss only you

And how the move that I make

Will take me closer to you

It may only be an hour

But it's an hour less for you

Don't make the mistake

I did everything wrong

When I watched the bus drive away

I knew it all along

That the months it would take to see you again

Would be the months that would kill us

And bring us to the end

Don't let these words confuse you

Just take them to heart

But a common misconception

Could still tear us apart...
