An Ode to The People Who Think They Can Make it By Themselves

To the black clouds over your head

Down to the lightning striking all around

You can't seem to remember which way to go

As the rain starts pouring down

You get lost along with the crowd

You can look around you

But there is nowhere to run...

No where to go...

No where to hide...

This is an ode

To the people

Who seem to think

They can make it on their own

They are alone

No one is home

No one can make it by themselves

They're on their own

As for the people who cry

They say "I'm Dying" Deep inside

They all don't know where to hide

No where to go

You can't make it on your own

Laugh at me

Call me names

It doesn't matter now

It is all the same

Red lights keep me from the road

And cracks from the sidewalk

Got no where to turn

No where to go

No where to run...

On their own...

This is an ode

To the people

Who seem to think

They can make it on their own

They are alone

No one is home

No one can make it by themselves

They're all alone

This is an ode

To the loners

Who run and hide

From the people they call friends

Cuz they dont know

They arent alone

In this world it ain't the end

Ain't the end...

All alone

This is an ode

To the people

Who seem to think

They can make it on their own

They are alone

No one is home

No one can make it by themselves

All alone...

On their own....

(Repeat Chorus)

No one can make it own their own

Author's Notes/Comments:

Writtin July 2003.  One of my favorites.  A must read for everone who thinks they can make it all on their own.  I learned the hard way that it isn't possible.
