In The Beginning

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was Poetry,

and Poetry and the Word were One; and out of the magic

and power of the Word was the world created, and every living

thing and every creek and rock and ravine upon the earth

took their being from the primal Word; and Poetry it was

that created the sun and moon and the diamond stars

in the night; for out of the magic Word of Poetry rose

mountains and hills and every stream and river

that fertilize the soil, and every crystal lake, and every

waterfall, were all created through the magic and the power of the Word of Poetry, as Poetry created all the myriad-hued fowl

that sweep the air, and every breathing creature that creeps, and walks, upon the land, and the rainbow-color'd fish

and the great whales in the ocean...and then Poetry made all the flowers bloom, and trees give ripe, juicy fruit, and

Poetry and the Word made all symbols and the dreams

of Men and Women, for Men and Women themselves came also out

of the magic and power of the Word, for Poetry it was that brought into existence every tale of love and hate,

and all the songs of poets since the world began; for Poetry was well-written before Men and Women had eyes to see

and ears to hear, and words to give their magic names

to things; Poetry it was that created Man and Woman,

and every thing under heaven and on earth and every stream

and ocean blue; as Poetry it is that now creates every

galaxy, and black hole in space and time, and every neutron

star, and every dream as it was in the beginning, as it is

now, and has always been, and will be forever till the end

of times in this wondrous universe...and then Poetry will

create other worlds, other times, other spaces,

other wondrous dreams...

Author's Notes/Comments:
