The Time Traveller

She walks alone on dusty roads,
Clad in her dress of red,
Her face is young, her eyes are old,
She lives amoung the dead,

The hands of time have faded now,
No matter what the cost,
And lonely years have blown away,
She is an angel lost,

It is in memories that she sleeps,
And dreams of future days,
She once did kneel and beg the lord,
He kissed her with his rays,

For want of love she journeyed back,
No promises were made,
To see and touch his heart of gold,
So not to let them fade,

He'll never know he never can,
The space he'll leave to fill,
For far away in better times,
The world mourns for him still,

So silently she seeks him now,
The girl a-clad in red,
Through dreary London calling out,
A soul amoung the dead,

Entranced at once by golden curls,
he hurries to her flame,
He cannot guess, he won't suspect,
The nature of her game,

The rolling sun rolls sadly by,
She hopes she was not wrong,
To risk this much, a life unlived,
She musn't wait too long,

Now dusk has set, the sky's alight,
This chance they musn't miss,
The secret both had locked away.
Is spoken with a kiss,

Her soul is weeping for the man,
She knows she cannot love,
For history dictates every step,
Controlled from skies above,

His hands, his hair, his eyes, his lips,
The shadows of his voice,
Tonight's the night that came so fast,
Tonight she makes her choice,

Her hands of ivory hold his face,
A tear rolls down her cheek,
She whispers in his ear some words,
That cause the man to weep,

He does not know why she must go,
But that it is tonight,
When a love that caused his soul to soar,
Will vanish froom his sight,

Held in his arms she tells him of,
The thing she'd never do,
"Deny the world you life and works,
Deny the world of you,"

He doesn't understand, he won't,
Till faded suns have passed,
He holds her close his rose in red,
To make the moment last,

She turns to go her pain is such,
She feels her heart shall break,
She leaves her love no more to see,
For earth's ironic sake,

So slowly fades into the mist,
His beauty dressed in red,
And evermore he'll call her name,
As she walks amoung the dead,

Yet he will never see her face,
Or touch her golden curls,
She watches from a distance,
As his tragedy unfurls,

She knows of course, his fate is set,
So bitter is the taste,
An artist, precious are his words,
How pitiful the waste,

How sad it is that every step,
And every single date,
Goes by just as she new it would,
She lives but just to wait,

The years have not been kind to him,
He lies a broken wreck,
His riches,fame,celebrity,
Were cut off at the neck,

Yet suddenly a golden glow,
Floats over to his bed,
A silent cry breaks from his lips,
He's found his love in red,

Upon her face there are no lines,
No signs of ageing show,
As if she's just stepped out of time,
Surrounded by this glow,

She sees him now, the time has come,
She knows what happens next,
But this is how it's meant to be,
It's written in the text,

Their hearts beat now, in sync at last,
And time has all but stopped,
A heavy weight, a leaden weight,
A weight about to drop,

Into his arms the lord takes in,
The hungry and the poor,
Her love has gone, he's journeyed on,
To knock upon this door,

A pain like none you'll ever know,
Sears through her heart and soul,
She always knew this day would come,
Like the bottem of a hole,

The passers by walk past and sigh,
As she screams at the silent moon,
On cobbled floors, outside closed doors,
Her darling flew too soon,

The love she carries in her heart,
To great a love to lose,
To live without her mighty prince,
The Lord knows she'll refuse,

A final blow as swift as snow,
Turns pale her lips from red,
Eternal life, eternal love,
She rests amoung the dead.

long yeah

I enjoyed the story. Sometimes a good story takes a little longer to tell. Don't worry about length.
