father and daughter

father and daughter hand in hand...

he holds her up so she dont hit the ground.

Soft giggles as she goes down the slide again.

Hide and seek until the sun goes down...

His little varment pushing him on her four wheeler of red

before he races onto the track.

He smiles as he tucks her in bed.

His little angel smiles right back.

The fighting becomes too much to take.

He kisses his daughter before he leaves.

Its not leaving his wife, but his daughter that causes him to break.

The pictures bring him to his knees.

He gets her back as shes now fourteen.

They hoped to begin a family again.

No longer alone they were a team.

They were again best friends.

But now my daddy is far away.

Sometimes i wonder where he's gone.

Hopefully hes happy in a peaceful way.

I hope hes having fun.

Somtimes I look at him for answers...

but i see only emptiness in his eyes.

His heart is crushed because of her.

I know exactly when he cries.

As i turn away from those tear stained cheeks...

I tend to miss his laugh.

I feel his sadness when he speaks.

I just want my daddy back.

Daddy im here..

please dont cry.

Do not fear.

Let those tears dry.

For i am by your side.

And unlike her..i'll never hide.

I love you more than myself..

more than the moon, the stars and anyone else.

You own my entire heart.

I'd die to prevent that sadness in your eyes.

To make you smile, where do i start?

Please dont give up the fight...

Author's Notes/Comments:

This was to my dad, at a very hard point in both of our lives, and he disappeared for awhile; I somewhat got him back, but it will never be that way again.

That's very awesome that you and your dad are that close. I'm glad he has you for support when things get rough. This poem is heartfelt. For more help on your poetry check out the link below:
