I may not 'understand this poem' due to not knowing nor cherishing the "exquisite pleasure of stockings properly fashioned", but I DO know this is very well written (in my opinion), and I do know what it's like to wear blue metallic nail varnish as I used to own some myself, tho tend to wear black or deep red these days (not that you want to know that, but poetry DOES obviously make you think of your own experiences, and this particular poem takes me back to a certain time I spent in the psychiatric hospital, wearing chipped blue metallic nail varnish).
Sorry I've ranted on, but you've got me thinking, so thanks.
