At Ephesus, 7

I never understood the sudden fuss
that set the fire in downtown Ephesus.
But I know why you came, with piercing look
to toss away our pain-and-pleasure book.
It meant that we were "over."  You eschewed
our long exchange of power and called it---"sin"
because you have been "saved" and "born again';
you, whose submission was so well endued
with lovely lust?  Hence, your new Lord possesses
your loyalty, despite how that distresses.
me.  Now, dis-collared, you seem so unknown
to me, despite what some "disciples" say.
But I would rather die than, once, disown
my dominance, from which you walk away.
