Melodies XLIX; The Infernality Of The Vourdalak; A Slavic Tale

[after A. K. Tolstoy's novela, The Family Of The Vourdalak]

its hollow fangs cause living flesh to bleed

the crimson sustenance that on which to feed

that thing's damnable ego's gaping need.
