I recall speaking to a man who told me he was suicidal. He said his friends had saved him and talked him out of it two nights before. Two days later, he did it. It was a little hard for me to learn as I did not do anything to help him. I could have sat with him longer. I could have knocked on his door and check in to be sure he was okay. But I didnt really know him. He just lived upstairs from my office and I would wave or say hello in passing. This piece reminded me of him.

I am so sorry you had to

I am so sorry you had to experience something like this.  Some of the information in the poem reflects my own circumstances, to a minor degree, but I am no way like the poor spouse n the poem.  Having turned sixty last year, and sixty one is around the corner, I am excited about what this decade is bringing.  I have a lot of outlines in my pc files for poems, some of them have been years under consideration.  Plus two new grandchildren and my first great grandchild in less than eight months, that is very exciting.
