"A Life Like Your Own"

Can you look down upon me

From the ledge I cling to

And be able to turn

And walk the other way?

Could you ignore the pleas

Of an already shattered heart?

Could you ignore the pleas

Of a spirit killed by this world?

Could you turn and walk away

And not feel anything at all?

Not pain nor guilt?

Not sadness like mine?

Could you turn and walk away

And not think of the burden

You will have to carry everyday

Until the last beats of your dying heart.

Could you truly be that heartless?

Heartless enough to walk away

From a life hanging by a thread.

A life like your own.
