+ 3RD POEMS: Felix Qui Potuit Rerum

[inspired by some words by Ssmoothie,

quoted in the fourth line]

"Felix qui potuis rerum, cognoscere causas . . ."

---Vergil, Georgics, II

Too many of our peoples' poems are left forgotten on a shelf.

Our calling into sentience is to explain the Cosmos to itself.

We do that best, and explain the most of what existence is about,

as we continue to figure life and love, and their processes, out.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I should like to gratefully and humbly acknowledge one of PostPoems' greatest Poets, Ssmoothie, who kindly granted me permision to use some words (italicized in the poem's fourth line) from a comment placed, yesterday, on one of my other poems.  Ssmoothie is one of this site's most essential Poets, and a contributor to the PostPoems community's greatness.

As for the provenance of the poem, I happen to believe that the human race is the sole sentient species in the Cosmos (I speak only for myself in this belief; I do not ask anyone to accept in, nor would I wish to engage in acrimonius debate about it).  I believe that Christ, Creator of the Cosmos, created us with the responsibility to name the parts of the Cosmos (as Adam and Eve named the components of Eden), and to explain the Cosmos to itself.  This is why we have been blessed with the arts.

My wordss are your words they are free, its a little too much gratitude but it certainly made me smile and that's not easy these days! I am humbled and this is so true and profound. An am truly honoured you mentioned me in at all because there's no need. Your use of words as descriptions and as happenings are just wow! You'll have to find the phrase for me! Hugss and gratitude always ss

Thank you for the comment,

Thank you for the comment, and for being one of PostPoems' best.  Like the sites other pillars, you set an example both of literary excellence and of courteous fellowship that more of the members ought to emulate.  And, as long as I am able to put two words together in a phrase, I will be sure to point that out.
