My father's red velvet helmet

With this poem that I will recite now you shall learn a story that may or may not excite you. This is the story of why my father chose a helmet of color neither blue nor black, but red velvet. My father keeps this helmet close, he likes a lot of things, but extreme sports is what he enjoys the most. He works his weekends around the mountains and even takes me when I’m lazy at home. He makes me carry the customers’ bags and he makes me use a helmet of the same type but of different colour. My helmet’s color is white and shiny, but let me continue telling you about my father’s helmet story. For ten years he has enjoyed this and now he even jumps from 40 feet cliffs, not afraid but happy. Happy that he’s being paid to do what he loves the most. Happy to lead the customers to the end of the road. He keeps his helmet along with the other equipment he needs in case he receives a call from the rescue team of “Protección Civil” but even though he has all the equipment needed, he puts special attention to his special red velvet helmet. My father believes that this is a helmet of luck like no other, because it has saved him one time and another. This helmet can only be used by my father, not because it is expensive, but because he doesn’t like to borrow it, he can borrow any other equipment except his precious red velvet helmet. This helmet can be described with no words, but feelings for it has accompanied my father for more than a decade of hard work. This helmet has been there since the first years he was a guide, as he made his way through the mountains and the bottom of the chasms. From the president Calderon’s tour, his work in some repairs in a PEMEX mill, to his weekend tours to matacanes his helmet has always been there taking care of his head. He has been a guide to many and a loving father for my mom to marry. My mom disapproves of his love for danger, she seriously fears we might get injured. But he’s never afraid because he keeps close this helmet. This helmet that saved him in lots of occasions. This helmet has been with him for around ten years, ten years of excursion, ten years of extreme sports, ten years of joy and despite all this time this red velvet helmet looks kind of new.
