Unworthy Tree

She went to the garden to pick some fruit.
From the oldest tree with the deepest roots.
The fruit was yellow with patches of brown.
She always ate it when she felt down.
The taste was bitter, rotten and sour.
You'd think she'd rather eat a fresh flower.
But this fruit would feed her sorrowful thoughts.
Just what she needed, right then on the spot.
Confirmation, "Unworthy is me!"
She's eaten the fruit of the Unworthy Tree.
