The stone the builders rejected

Came and this nation was erected.

Immigrants. Every nation's castaway

Built this nation you see today.

The great melting pot of civilizations

Taking the dregs of all the nations,

God, by many names implored,

Was never forgotten as they explored.

God blessed us and we became strong,

And the nation grew and did some things wrong.

But like a child we learned from our mistakes,

Moved on leaving them in our wake.

As the cultures started to meld,

Attacks on us just acted like a weld.

Each culture now owned stock

Innovating, through thinking outside the box.

The stone the builders have rejected,

Is now the cornerstone.

On this foundation, a nation was erected.

By the power of the one true God alone.

Don’t disillusion yourselves we owe it all to him.

On the stone rejected by the builders

He built the New Jerusalem.

Author's Notes/Comments:

No offense or blasphemy intended, just something to ponder. It occurred to me in church today, how very much like the story of the “stone the builders rejected” the United States resembles this story. All the immigrants from around the world came here due to religious persecution or as prisoners or slaves or servants and from this stock and great melting pot of civilization, this great nation was built that all men had certain inalienable rights and through these rights ideas that would not have been allowed or be considered heresy were allowed and innovations were made by allowing those freedoms. What a revelation.
