They were the refuse from all nations and cities

Sent here by those not caring if they died,

They didn’t count on their tenacity

This is America’s pride



They fought the odds of weather

And hostiles and many died,

Cutting their European tether

This is America’s pride.



They formed colonies and a civilization

And many innovations were tried

To build a diversified nation

This is America’s pride.



They built forts then cities then a nation

Then stood up against the oppressors side

Fighting taxes without representation

This is America’s pride.



They expanded west from sea to shining sea

In wagons and carts did they ride

Molding this great land to the land of the free

This is America’s pride.



They integrated every nationality

And faith in god they did abide,

Faith in Allah and all the rest you see,

This is America’s pride.



We farmed land that was blessed by the god of yore

He was surely there by our side

Because our abundance overflows to feed the world’s poor.

This is America’s pride.



America’s pride is in our diversity

Not our military might  that can be projected far and wide,

It is our service to others and the desire to be free.

This is America’s pride.
