We the People of the United States,

The heart and soul of what makes America great

Is as true then as it is to date

It is the diversity of our people functioning as one mind and one heart

Daring to dream and reach for the stars.

In order to form a more perfect Union,

They learned to compromise and accept those that were different,

Taking a little from here, a little from there and mixing it.

What they got was a nation with a layered strength of religions,

Nationalities,  ideologies, but all with a common goal,

To make that perfect Union great.

Establish Justice,

Justice has gone through growing pains,

But every person has equal rights throughout the land

This applies to every woman, and every man.

Race, creed, and color are all treated the same.

Insure domestic Tranquility,

They passed laws to protect our rights and freedoms

The laws preserved the rights of the common man

By making everyone the common man

Everyone has an equal right to pursue their dreams.

Provide for the common defense,

To protect these rights and liberties

They provided the foundation for raising and maintaining an army.

They realized, the price of freedom is paid in blood.

No amount of money will keep evil at bay

It takes strength, to show evil, to take our freedom they must pay.

Promote the general Welfare,

Our founding fathers must have realized that we would be prosperous

That with god’s help our bounty would overflow.

Not only is there enough to feed our poor,

But there is enough for the rest of the world also.

When there is a disaster or we see the hungry of the world

It is the United States People that dig down in their pockets

And send the grains, water purification units, and medicine.

We couldn’t do that had god not blessed us with the diverse peoples

That led to the innovations in farming and land management.

And secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity,

Our Military is our last option.

When negotiations fail, and there is no compromise

Our military is called to protect our lives.

They will give their all so the light of freedom burns bright.

Do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

In this document, a nation was built for all to see,

As a land where all may pursue life and liberty.

A nation that went through growing pains as any child,

But has grown beyond its parents, developing its own style.

I can criticize our government and not fear for my life.

My vote counts just like my wife’s.

The rich man is viewed in the court same as the poor

Each with a right to representation and what’s more

To be judged by their peers according to the laws of the land

And they never have to take the witness stand.

This is America and what it means to be American,

We take care of our own and those in foreign lands.

Their politics we may not agree,

But as long as there is a United States, they won’t go hungry.

Even though those we help often turn their backs

We are always there for them when they are attacked.

It is said we are the great satan here on earth

But would satan care for their people when all they have to eat is dirt?

Our nation isn’t our leaders or our constitution

It is we the people seeking to form that more perfect union.

Following the dream of a better life for all

And making a difference in the world.

Only the Native American is truely American,

If you stop and think about it, we aren't American

We are the world.

Author's Notes/Comments:

What is bolded in this poem, for those that don't recognize it, it is the preamble to the Constitution of the United States.
