I can make my own way

The truth is beneath my words

a life I all in all deserved,

taken away from me

my soul was shattered, and so was my world.

My teary eyes kept screaming

when my life was being ripped

my flesh was rived from top to bottom

modesty was gone, I had no meaning.

The one with the savage deeds

did all that he could

his hands all over me.

I couldn't move from where I stood.

I groused for help, no one seem to see

of what I had to face and what my life would be.

But now, as I move I would

take 'him' down with what I have

I have the will, as that is all it takes

and I am a 'woman', I can make my own way.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this back when a horrific rape incident shook the capital of India. Violence against women is not something new, its is a truth all around the world. I just wish every women is able to stand up and fight against the 'one' who treats her like nothing but a 'commodity'. Every woman has that courage, she just needs to find it, as it might be hidden deep within.
