Poem_255_The_Horse

She may not limp

Physical leg unbroken

Run like any other

But her pain is unspoken

I see it in her face

As she runs the routine

Sleep, work, clean, dress

To see him serene

But like a wounded horse

Though healed on the out

Knows of it's fate

For it's no longer stout

No longer appealing

Though it tries

Only temporarily masking

It's great despise

I see that she hates herself

For not being more

Unable to please him

As she did before

So the horse keeps on

Ignoring the pain

But only until

The sun's feign

As the day is done

She returns to her stall

Only to cry and wince

In the pain of it all

Leg no longer broken

But unable to support

The massive work

Of her keeper's court

I see her lay down

After a day's tire

Stress covering her face

Hiding from her sire

Here she cries

And tries to renew

Her tiresome body

But there's too much to do
