poem_176_Barbaqued(comma)_Baby

On this summer day

Texas does smell

Of barbequed foods

Heat hotter than hell

Flames to the heavens

Smoke and more pollution

Great tasting food

In need for absolution

Burning flesh scents the air

Jubilant cries just as loud

All this ruckus made but

Alone we stand in the crowd

The skin seared to a crisp

Both chewy and burnt

Everything cooked to perfection

Exactly how we learnt

Great cooks in this family

The world unknowing

Of this secret recipe

That still is growing

Now in my possession

Our legacy is mine

Until I pass to my children

This ingredient so divine

Please don’t take me wrong

I know most won’t agree

On this secret additive

That makes it a delicacy

A taste so unique

Only few have dared try

Even the unorthodox cooks

Declare me awry

Young human is the best

No stretched muscles you see

Give my dish a try cause

You might like barbequed baby
