poem_150_Adulation

And now my nights are colder

And now my days are long

The world is on my shoulder

My burden’s in this song

I sleep on a wet pillow

I cover in a wet sheet

I’m dryer than an armadillo

From this cold to sudden heat

My tears no longer flow

My sobs no longer sigh

My emotions no longer show

For the absence of this one guy

The tears that I’ve cried

Are too many a number to count

The whole time he has lied

His pleasure my account

No longer shall I take it

My heart just won’t make it

This fatal blow was my last

And now you’re in my past

And now my nights are colder

And now my days are long

The world is on my shoulder

My burden’s in this song
