poem_119_The_American_Dream

Come to America

And you will see

Everything you've wished for

Or could possibly be

Hope reins the country

Dreams finally come true

Your thought of being a movie star

Will be yours come soon

Life, liberty, pursuit of happiness

The motto which we live by

What more could a person ask for

In a desperate help of cry

But this sadly is not real

The American dream is just a dream

And when you come anything you feel

Will soon deplete its gleam

The streets are lined with homeless

Most foreigners are shunned

Unless you have proper education

Then being ignored has only begun

All dreams will come to end

All hopes will end up crushed

Then you'll have to fend

For yourself and stay hushed

Daily hardships will be routine

The possibility of death everyday

And all you'll be able to say

Is that "the American dream is obscene"
