Owl's Fable

When the world was created the gods gave life to animals and decided to give each one of them a specific role. They had the obligation of being loyal to their gods and to fulfill their jobs.

One day the owl, who always tried to do his best while doing his job, was called by the gods. The gods blamed the owl of always doing his job incompletely and said that he wasn’t worthy of being one of their creations; but they said that he would receive one last chance. The owl started to watch the other animals to try to learn how they did their jobs and see if they were really loyal to their gods. When he saw the dog he realized that the dog did its entire job and that he did it with excellence. That made the owl jealous. After spying the dog he went to spy the cat. He saw that the cat was really lazy and always did half of his job, but didn’t get caught because he was really discrete. Once again that made the owl jealous. Then he decided to watch the rabbit and he saw that the rabbit had a really easy job and had a lot of spare time. That made the owl explode, and made a plan of revenge.

The owl went with the gods and said that he had the hardest job of all the animals and didn’t get recognized like the others did. The gods didn’t believe him and questioned his loyalty and they reminded him that if he didn’t do his job they would punish him severely. The owl was full of hate and made a plan of blaming the rabbit and making him fail in his job.

In the next day the rabbit realized that he didn’t have his tools for work and he thought that he had lost them, but he tried to keep it secret and find a way to do his job without them. The owl went to the gods and he told them about the rabbit doing badly his job and lying about his tools. The gods started watching the animals more frequently because of what the owl have told them. And after watching them for some days they realize that no one did their job correctly except the dog, so they decided to wait for him to do something bad for them to destroy them. The owl finally wins the confidence of the gods and sends him to start spying the animals. The owl taking advantage of this situation, told the gods that the dog wasn’t doing his job, knowing that they were going to believe him.

Finally gods decided to end the world without asking any questions to the animals leaving only the owl. After some time the owl started to realize that he was very lonely and that what he had done wasn’t worth it. So he went with the gods and told them the truth, the he lied to them about the animals because he was jealous. So the gods decided that they had to apply the same punishment to the owl, so they decided to finish him.
