Goodbye

Goodbye, my love,

I am walking out this door.

I am not going to look back

I know I've tried before.

Goodbye, sweetheart

Our love is no longer sweet.

Love has topped out at none

And I'm feeling beat.

Goodbye, my dear,

I wish you could realize

That quiet footsteps are

Better than swollen eyes.

Goodbye, my love,

Do not wipe my tears.

I must feel I am strong

Without residing fears.

Goodbye, sweetheart,

I can no longer stay.

We have both changed and

I cannot love you this way.

Goodbye, my dear,

This brokenness must stop

Because you have taken every tear

You have taken every drop.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Basically self-expalanatory, love was breaking them not helping them, if you could call it love at all.

I like this poem. It captures the emotion of a divorce/breaking up situation. Well done.
