for you grandad

Today we celebrate your life,

And remember the good,

Although we are sad,

We will enjoy you like we should.

Someone we hold so dear,

Forever, that won’t change,

You’re the reason we’re here,

All varieties of age.

We all have different moments,

That we shared with you,

We will laugh and cry together,

About the times we knew.

A family man you were,

You loved us all the same,

Well, apart from the odd time,

When we beat you at your game.

A million cups of tea,

Would never quench your thirst,

And if not made right,

You would sometimes curse.

You experienced so much,

You always had a story,

About war, love and life,

Details sometimes gory.

A family you created,

Three generations from you,

Soon to be expanding,

It’s almost like you knew.

We miss you so much,

You can never be replaced,

But the god you love,

Has filled the empty space.

A baby comes our way,

And we will sing to them,

The songs you sang to us,

Horsey horsey, again and again.

We hope you are happy,

And no longer in any pain,

Up there, singing sweetly,

With your loving wife again.
