On Poetry and Life

On Poetry

Writing a poem is comparable to facing life’s trials

For the objective does not determine the outcome.

When you start a poem or conquer life’s obstacles,

Completion is not what you expected it would become.

When an inspiration for a poem drifts into my head

Or when I see a barrier of life forming in the distance,

I struggle to try to find a way to have a breakthrough,

Or I question whether I should ignore it in resistance.

I finally decide that I will confront these hindrances.

My pen starts flowing as these thoughts I lay bare.

Facing fear head on is the solution, this I know, for

The finished product is worth what it took to get there.
